A large shark is now a famous tourist attraction in Busan, South Korea. The shark is 3.5 metres long. People first saw the shark in a narrow city canal on 18 September. It has been stuck in the canal for more than a week. Now, many people come to the water to see it.
The local people gave the shark a nickname, "Bukang-i." This name comes from Busanโs North Port. The city also gave the shark a special title. They called it a "Shafluencer" because it is a star on social media. This has helped many people visit the area.
The North Port Waterfront Park usually has about 2,000 visitors on holidays. However, between 19 and 28 September, the park had 607,000 visits. This is a very large number of people. Busanโs mayor, Chun Jae-soo, said the shark has "star quality."
Scientists believe the shark is a bronze whaler shark. It probably followed food from the sea into the canal. Now, it cannot find a way out. The shark is stable, but it cannot move or eat easily because the canal is too narrow. The coastguard tried to help the shark, but they stopped because it was too dangerous. They did not want the shark to get angry or hurt.
On Tuesday morning, the coastguard tried a new plan. They used boats to spray water behind the shark to push it out. This did not work. The shark swam away from the boats and stayed in the deep water. The city continues to watch the shark carefully.
