Many people gathered to protest a new plan in Wales. They do not want a new data centre in the area. The project is for a 101-acre site between Caernarfon and Y Felinheli in Gwynedd. People are worried about the beautiful nature in this place. There is a big debate between money and nature.

A company called Canolfan Ddata Menai wants to build the centre. They say the land is currently unused and old. They want to change it into a modern place for technology. The company says the project will help the local economy. During construction, it could create more than 900 jobs. When it is finished, it should provide 200 permanent jobs for local people.

However, many local people are very angry. They think the data centre will destroy the beauty of the Menai Strait. More than 22,500 people have already signed a petition to stop the plan. They want to protect the coastline. The site is also a Site of Special Scientific Interest (SSSI). This means the area is very important for science and nature. People fear the large building will hurt this special area.

Liz Saville Roberts is an MP for Dwyfor Meirionnydd. She says we need careful planning. She believes data centres must be the right size and in the right location. She wants to avoid problems with the environment. The community is divided. Some people want the new jobs, but others want to protect the natural world. The decision will be very important for the future of the Menai Strait.
